Description
This unit introduces the idea that scientists use instruments to help them see, measure, or do things that they could not do otherwise. Your child will use several scientific tools in this unit: a science notebook, a ruler, a magnifying glass, and a thermometer. For hands-on activities, your child will create a science notebook, adding to it throughout the year. Children will also hunt for items that measure a specific length, check the temperature of containers of water, and take a magnifying glass walk. An online video clip and worksheets are provided to reinforce the concepts. This unit is designed to last one week, depending on how often you teach science.
