**This ENTIRE bundle and student workbook are now also offered in The Scientific Method and Metric System Mega-Bundle with Student Workbooks!**

Included Resources:

Back to School Scientific Method PowerPoint

A super informative presentation on the scientific method. Great for a review or introduction. Appropriate for grades 7-10. Includes descriptions of hypothesis, control and variable. Describes what to include in a comprehensive conclusion. A great overview if you intend on competing in science fair!!

Scientific Method Lab Activities

Looking for an activity to jazz up your back to school scientific method unit?! Here are three scientific method lab activities to start your year off with a bang! The well known 'Drops on a Penny' is included, along with 'Spring a Leak?' and 'Where the Green Grass Grows.' FUN, EASY and CHEAP activities to start your year off! Your students will go home and rave to their parents about how much fun your science class is!

These are the PERFECT follow up to an introduction to the scientific method, but can also stand alone!

Materials needed for all 3: pennies, eyedroppers, cups of water, paper towels, plastic sandwich bags, sharp pencils, 2 pots, potting soil (or just soil from your back yard), grass seed, water.

'Drops on a Penny' takes about 30 minutes, 'Spring a Leak?' takes about 20-30 minutes and 'Where the Green Grass Grows is a long term ( 1-2 weeks/ about 5-10 minutes a day) project. You can easily vary the amount of background information you give to the students based on their grade level and ability. THIS IS GREAT HANDS-ON SCIENCE for grades 4-8. Have fun!

The Scientific Method Bubble Experiment

Have you always wanted to do the Bubble Lab and didn't know how? Or have lab sheets? Who has the TIME?! This is my new GO TO FAVORITE Scientific Method Lab Activity for 8th grade. It is SPOT ON. Teacher directions included for mixing solutions and what to expect. Two pages of student lab sheets.

I use this experiment to review Scientific Method with a focus on data analysis, specifically calculating averages and % increase. Extra practice problems with key are included.

Scientific Method Worksheets

This resource contains 3 separate scientific method worksheets that can be used for classwork or homework. Each worksheet contains two columns. The left column describes a scenario in which the scientific method was used and the right column contains questions that correlate to what is being read in the left column. Answer keys provided for easy grading.

The three scenarios/ stories provided increase in difficulty. The questions also increase in difficulty and each focus on different aspects of the scientific method. These make great sub plans! My students enjoy these every year!

Scientific Method Review Task Cards

Looking for anything OTHER than a worksheet to review the scientific method? Check out these 20 Scientific Method Review task cards! They are very "doable" for middle school students. Post them around your room and have students race to record their answers. Then go through the answers. A much better review than "just another worksheet."

This little pack contains 20 task cards and answer key to review the scientific method. The questions are appropriate for grades 6-8 and there is a slight emphasis on independent and dependent variables. I also included a handout and answer key that explains the difference between independent and dependent variables and has students identify the variables in example problems. Enjoy!

Scientific Method Sorting Cards

Need a scientific method review activity for early finishers? My students love these sorting cards because it allows them to review the scientific method without writing or doing a worksheet. After completing a scientific method lab activity, I have my students sort these cards for review. It makes a great formative assessment!

Scientific Method Review Sheets and Quiz

Ready to close up your scientific method unit? Take a quick dive into independent vs dependent variables, review important vocabulary, and apply the steps of the scientific method. Finally, a simple matching quiz. I like to use an easier assessment on the first unit so my middle schoolers can feel successful and have a positive view of science for the upcoming year.

Scientific Method Drag and Drop Digital Activity for Distance Learning

This resource utilizes Google slides in a drag and drop activity to review the steps of the scientific method, independent vs. dependent variable, and other vocabulary associated with the scientific method.
