Description
This editable 8th grade math foldable provides notes and plenty of practice on scientific notation. The foldable is organized by the following tabs:
- What is scientific notation? (Students will write the definition, take notes on what a number looks like when it's written in scientific notation, then answer 6 problems which ask whether or not a number is written in scientific notation and if not, to rewrite it so it is).
- Positive Powers (Students will take notes on the meaning of positive powers for numbers written in scientific notation. Then, they will answer a total of 8 problems going from scientific notation to standard notation and vice versa).
- Negative Power (Same as Positive)
- Adding & Subtracting (Students will take notes on the process for adding & subtracting numbers that are written in scientific notation, then answer 4 problems)
- Multiplying & Dividing (Same as Adding/ Subtracting)
Perfect for interactive math notebooks! I use this type of assignment during whole group guided instruction, but it would also work great for intervention, small group, centers, or during a tutoring session.
This download includes a print + go PDF version, as well as the editable PowerPoint file. Download the preview to take a closer look at the page setup and the exact content included.
