Description

This assignment is a set of 12 printable paper posters with questions for solving linear equations to tape around the room. Assign them a beginning letter to space them out among the classroom. Their answer to the first question they encounter will be on one of the other posted papers in the room. They work from problem to problem showing their work on their own paper and then finding their answer on top of another poster which leads them that their next question. This is a great activity which allows the students to self-check as they work and is an easy assignment to grade for the teacher. Your kinesthetic learners will appreciate the movement in the activity. This can also be printed as task cards for the students to sort at their desk. You check their loop and address problems with those that couldn't accurately complete the loop. Key is included.

Solve linear equations in one variable.
Give examples of linear equations in one variable with one solution, infinitely many solutions, or no solutions. Show which of these possibilities is the case by successively transforming the given equation into simpler forms, until an equivalent equation of the form 𝘹 = 𝘢, 𝘢 = 𝘢, or 𝘢 = 𝘣 results (where 𝘢 and 𝘣 are different numbers).
Solve linear equations with rational number coefficients, including equations whose solutions require expanding expressions using the distributive property and collecting like terms.
