Sentence building + writing with blends! This is a comprehensive set of 80+ worksheets with hands-on activities to practice writing complete simple sentences that include blends. Students cut and arrange words to build each simple sentence, then write, illustrate, self-edit and peer-edit the sentence. There are a lot of skills packed into one page!
This is a complete sentence writing program with interactive printable pages that are perfect for literacy centers, whole group lessons, and daily morning work.
This is Set 4 of 6 in the Sentence Writing Program, focusing on Blends.
With daily practice, the self-editing of basic sentence writing skills may transfer into their daily writing even without the use of the checklist, which is the ultimate goal!
In this set you will receive 80+ pages of printables featuring daily practice of basic sentence construction.
Also included are cut and paste word sorting printables as review, as well as full color word and picture cards for sorting words as a literacy center or for use on pocket charts and word walls.
These pages can be used as whole group lessons, guided reading lessons, independent literacy centres, in sub tubs, or for home practice. Once students learn the routine, they should be independent with the many tasks on each page.
Each page will require students to:
- Build a sentence with cut out words, allowing them to manipulate the words until it makes sense. Students clues of capitalization, punctuation and context clues, which reinforces guided reading strategies such as self-correcting and checking that a sentence makes sense.
- Print the sentence correctly with legible letters.
- Self-edit their sentence using two different forms of checklists. They will check for correct capitalization, punctuation, spaces and backward letters.
- Demonstrate comprehension of the sentence by drawing a picture to match what was written. There is a checkbox to confirm this, prompting them to add detail if needed.
- Peer-edit by trading papers with another student and checking their work. They will sign their name when everything is checked, making them feel “like a teacher!”
