"This is such a helpful, needed tool to support sentence comprehension. I like the photos. Sometimes it can be confusing with all the sentence choices on each page, but I still think it is a great overall product. "

Description

48 full pages of captivating Picture stimuli targeting Sentence Comprehension - DIRECT and INDIRECT OBJECT. Products are made to target a child's deficits based on each Subtest of the CELF (Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals). Can be used as a Probe, for Treatment, or for Progress Monitoring. I use it for all three. Pair with any other craft, game, etc. to reinforce. The materials use High Contrast to highlight the meaning of Direct and Indirect Objects for children with language impairments; this is an evidence-based approach.

Teaches Sentence Comprehension of DIRECT and INDIRECT object, including in multiple positions (e.g., He gave her the flowers; He gave the flowers to her) and with/without an indirect object (e.g., He passed the ball; He passed her the ball). Picture stimuli make it easy to incorporate or otherwise incidentally learn additional language skills (e.g., categories, pronouns, 3rd person singular, present progressive, multiple meaning).

The Digging SLP products are made to be thorough, complete, and comprehensive for the given skill.

I got tired of cherry-picking different skills on different weeks and struggled to keep things consistent, find multiple activities for a given skill, and to remember everything I was supposed to be working on. For that reason, I started to back track...looking at each child's Item Analysis breakdown on the CELF and creating materials to specifically target those deficits. Since doing so, I finally feel confident in knowing my students' needs, tracking their progress, and deciding what to do next.

The Digging SLP Process:

1) Assess (my items are based on the CELF-5)

2) Determine Specific Deficits (using CELF-5 Item Analysis)

3) Use Specific Intervention to address Specific Deficit ( The Digging SLP materials )

Really great resource to work on comprehension of complex sentences. This type of resource can be difficult to find. Can also use for homework, once you educate the parent on how to use boom cards!
