Description
This is the Free Version for the Sentence Comprehension - Prepositional Phrase Picture Stimuli Activity.
Tasks are meant to address deficits identified with the Item Analysis of the CELF-5. These tasks address deficits in Prepositional Phrases.
241 pages, 960 REAL images on the FULL VERSION.
61 of the most common PREPOSITIONS (for the prepositional phrases)
This picture stimuli activity teaches Prepositional Phrases by teaching children 1) the meaning of the preposition targets (e.g., that they suggest a surface or a movement, etc.) and 2) the important of listening for the preposition's object.
There is a high level of contrast between images, allowing for incidental learning and re-mediation of comprehension following errors.
All of The Digging SLP items are made to target a child's deficits based on each Subtest of the CELF (Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals). Can be used as a Probe, for Treatment, or for Progress Monitoring. I use it for all three. Pair with any other craft, game, etc. to reinforce. My kids are surprisingly engaged when given real images and asked to 'solve' the presented 'mystery'. The materials use High Contrast to highlight the structure of Direct Requests for children with language impairments; this is an evidence-based approach.
Picture stimuli make it easy to incorporate or otherwise incidentally learn additional language skills (e.g., categories, pronouns, 3rd person singular, present progressive, inference).
The Digging SLP products are made to be thorough, complete, and comprehensive for the given skill.
I got tired of cherry-picking different skills on different weeks and struggled to keep things consistent, find multiple activities for a given skill, and to remember everything I was supposed to be working on. For that reason, I started to back track...looking at each child's Item Analysis breakdown on the CELF and creating materials to specifically target those deficits. Since doing so, I finally feel confident in knowing my students' needs, tracking their progress, and deciding what to do next.
The Digging SLP Process:
1) Assess (my items are based on the CELF-5)
2) Determine Specific Deficits (using CELF-5 Item Analysis)
3) Use Specific Intervention to address Specific Deficit ( The Digging SLP materials )
