Description

Your beginning writers will learn how to edit in no time with these simple sentences needing repair. Each page has a single, easy to read sentence that needs some fixing. (There are 20 different sentences in all.)

Repairs include: letter fixes (capital/lowercase), missing ending punctuation, and for the experienced mechanics… jumbled or misspelled HFW (high frequency words). With all of the mistakes, these sentences will slow the reader down. Have your students get their tools (highlighter and pencil) to find the mistakes and repair them so they are ready for smooth reading!

There are two levels for each sentence. Level A is easier and Level B is more challenging. Choose which one is best for your class or use both to differentiate.

Use these for: welcome work, literacy centers, or as a mini lesson once a week (I did these on Fridays and called it “Fix it Friday”).

My students are loving this resource!! They really like being in charge of fixing sentences and they seem to look at it as more of a fun job rather than learning. Thank you!
