Description

This slide deck comes with a Cornell notes template you can print off for your students. They can add notes as you teach them about dependent and independent clauses and the four types of sentence structure.

I teach the first four slides one day, then follow it with practice activities. I then teach each of the sentence structures separately, providing plenty of practice for each.

Included:

  • What is a clause?
  • Dependent & Independent Clauses
  • Simple Sentences
  • Compound Sentences
  • Three ways to punctuate compound sentences: comma and coordinating conjunction, semicolon, and semicolon and conjunctive adverb
  • Complex Sentences
  • How to punctuate dependent clauses in complex sentences
  • Compound-Complex Sentences

This resource looks great, but I was not able to use with my students. It is not clear in the listing that this is only available via Google Slides, and my school uses Microsoft. There is not a printable version. It is only mentioned in the "format" section. I wish I could use this resources as it looks well made.
