ATP-ADP Cycle Worksheet (Cellular Energy)

One of the greatest challenges in teaching biology is helping students understand non-tangible cellular processes like energy utilization. The excellent news is ATP is the primary energy molecule for all life forms, which reinforces the importance of this molecule for cells to function and maintain homeostasis. Despite universal dependence on ATP among organisms on Earth, there still seems to be a lack of quality activities available to help students master the comprehension of how the ATP-ADP c

Conservation of Momentum Lab Series using Marbles

This listing features two labs about the conservation of momentum using marbles. I facilitate this activity series on successive days in my eighth-grade physical science class. This lab set aligns with our unit about Newton’s three laws. In the first lab activity, students determine if there is a positive correlation between the number of marbles released down the ruler ramp and the number of stationary marbles ejected upon impact on the bottom, flat portion of the track. In the second lab acti

Trophic Level Classification Activity (Producers, Consumers, and Decomposers)

Is a lion a secondary consumer? Are worms and root-eating grubs decomposers or primary consumers? Middle school life science students will answer these questions, among others, using their taxonomy skills. In this four-page activity, students will classify sixty-four organisms as producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers, tertiary consumers, or decomposers. I grouped quaternary consumers under tertiary consumers for simplicity's sake. The decomposer category houses the detrivores for th
