I recently purchased this science lesson content for my middle school classroom, and it’s been a great addition to the materials I already use. The quality of the resource is solid—well-organized, clear, and engaging—and it blended smoothly with my existing lesson plans. My classroom includes a wide range of learners, including students with IEPs and 504 plans, English language learners, and several gifted students. After making a few adaptations to meet the diverse needs in my room, I found that all my students were able to access and benefit from the content. It offered enough structure for those who needed support and enough flexibility and depth for students ready for enrichment. Overall, this resource has added value to my instruction, and I appreciate having another tool that supports differentiated learning in a meaningful way.

This resource is such a fun and effective way to teach simple machines! The doodle notes were a huge hit with my students—they were engaged, focused, and loved being able to color while learning. The PowerPoint was clear, visually appealing, and provided great explanations to support the lesson. The included quiz made assessment quick and easy, and everything tied together seamlessly. It’s a well-thought-out, low-prep resource that made teaching this science unit enjoyable for both me and my students. Highly recommend!

Thank you so much, Savannah! Your review truly made me smile. I’m absolutely thrilled that the Simple Machines resource brought joy, clarity, and confidence to both you and your students. Knowing that it supported your emerging bilingual learners in such an engaging, hands-on way—and that the visuals and structure helped everyone stay focused and excited to learn—means the world to me.

I put a lot of heart into designing materials that are not only low-prep and effective, but also fun and accessible for all types of learners. It’s so encouraging to hear that the PowerPoint, doodle notes, and quiz worked together just the way they were intended to—and that they helped make this unit a success in your 3rd grade classroom.

NGSSMS-ETS1-2
Evaluate competing design solutions using a systematic process to determine how well they meet the criteria and constraints of the problem.
NGSSMS-PS2-2
Plan an investigation to provide evidence that the change in an object’s motion depends on the sum of the forces on the object and the mass of the object. Emphasis is on balanced (Newton’s First Law) and unbalanced forces in a system, qualitative comparisons of forces, mass and changes in motion (Newton’s Second Law), frame of reference, and specification of units. Assessment is limited to forces and changes in motion in one-dimension in an inertial reference frame, and to change in one variable at a time. Assessment does not include the use of trigonometry.
NGSSMS-ETS1-1
Define the criteria and constraints of a design problem with sufficient precision to ensure a successful solution, taking into account relevant scientific principles and potential impacts on people and the natural environment that may limit possible solutions.
