Description

These differentiated task cards for multiplication and division include 1-2 step word problems as well as basic expressions to help students master their math facts! These task cards would be perfect for third-grade students, or any fourth-grade or fifth-grade students that need a review of their math facts.  With three versions available, students can participate in this task at a level that meets their individual needs. This activity is low-prep and comes with a full answer key for easy grading! Your students will have a blast as they dive into these Safari-themed task cards and master their math facts!

This Resource Includes:

  • 96 Task Cards: 3 sets of 32 task cards each with varying levels of multiplication and division fact problems (64 unique problems!)
  • Version A: 32 task cards with ONLY simple equations on them. (simplest version)
  • Version B: 32 task cards with simple equations AND 1-2 step word problems (a combination of 16 problems each from Version A and Version C).
  • Version C: 32 task cards with ONLY 1-2 step word problems (most rigorous).
  • Full color and printer-friendly options for each version of task cards.
  • Digital option for each version of task cards.
  • All word problems are Safari-themed for a more immersive and fun experience!

How to use this resource in your classroom:

  • Print and cut task cards, then print and copy the answer page, OR assign digital task cards.
  • Students will complete task cards on their answer page (use scratch paper for extra work space if necessary!)
  • Check student work with answer keys.

Activity Variations-

  • Use these cards as a scavenger hunt by placing them around the room for students to find and solve!
  • Partner/small group work- print out one set of cards for a group of students to share and work through together!
  • Use these cards as a scoot- place a different card on each desk. After 2-3 minutes to solve, tell students to rotate and move to the next card!
  • Use as an independent math center.
  • Use as a teacher-led small group activity and work through problems together. Include a math discussion to uncover misconceptions and answer questions.

  • Differentiation allows students of ALL LEVELS to participate in the same (or similar) activities but with math content that meets their individual needs!
