Description

Looking for cool ideas for unpacking the standards with students and families? This 1st Grade Math Mastery Tracker takes the brain work out of it! Use this small group data tracking sheet as an IEP data tracker or for whole group standards based grading!  Every 1st Math Standard is listed in parent-friendly language. This tracker is a great way to invest students and families in their math progress!

This tracker takes the somewhat wordy Common Core State Standards for math and lists them as 21 kid-friendly learning goals. For example- 1.NBT.3- "Compare two two-digit numbers based on meanings of tens and ones digits, recording the results of comparisons with the symbols >, =, or <" has been rewritten as "11. Compare two digit numbers." Don't worry! The actual standard number is written in parentheses just for you!

This is also an incredible way to INVEST PARENTS into math mastery. I sent a copy home with parents to allow them to work with their children on specific skills at home. The "kid-friendly" language is helpful for parents as well! It's also a great way to check in on progress at a parent-teacher conference.

I have found this tracker to be most successful if I print two copies on card-stock for each of my students. One copy students keep in their binder or math notebook and the other copy you keep. I refer to my own set frequently when thinking about small group reteaching or tutoring. Students love to have their own copies and these I make sure to print on a bright color so they feel proud to keep up with it. Each time a student demonstrates mastery of a certain skill, I hole punch the square next to that objective.
