Description

Is your class learning and researching about the Solar System and Planets? These Solar System organizers are the perfect tool! You could use them at the end of your unit of study, to review before a unit test, or for guided research projects.

This packet includes 11 one-page graphic organizers. There is one for each of the 8 planets, plus one for Pluto, the Sun, and the Moon.

There are two versions of each graphic organizer in this pack. One organizer allows students to illustrate the planet. The other organizer has the planet at the top of the page for them to color.

The questions on the organizers ask:

✔Where is it in relation to the Sun?

✔How long does it take to orbit the Sun?

✔Describe how it looks

✔Is it a terrestrial or gaseous planet?

✔How long does it take to turn on its axis?

✔Does it have any known moons?

✔What is the surface temperature there?

✔Two interesting facts I learned are...

The questions on the graphic organizer for the Sun and Moon are:

✔Distance from Earth?

✔How did it form?

✔Describe how it looks

✔Two interesting facts I learned are...

✔How is it important to life on Earth?

Students could use these to guide their research about one chosen planet in the solar system and then create a poster project to present to the class. The graphic organizers also work well to summarize what was learned in class and then use as a study guide or for review.

✔For Elementary Grades – Second grade, Third grade, Fourth grade, Fifth grade

This Solar System Project Research Template Graphic Organizers resource by Heart 2 Heart Teaching is a fantastic tool for guiding students through structured, meaningful research. The organizers are thoughtfully designed to help students break down information about each planet in a clear and manageable way. I especially like how the templates support organization and critical thinking, making it easier for students to gather facts, record details, and stay focused on key concepts. It’s perfect for independent research projects, science centers, or whole-class assignments. The layout is student-friendly and encourages neat, thorough work. Overall, this resource makes a complex topic like the solar system more accessible and engaging. It’s a great way to help students build research skills while learning science content at the same time.
