Description

The quadratic formula solutions result in imaginary & irrational numbers. The perfect squares to simplify under the radicals are one of the following numbers: 4, 9, 16, 25, or 100. The worksheets can help identify at which step in simplifying that students need help with simplifying and the worksheets have problems that ask students to solve with no scaffolding. Students can self-check their answers on the classwork.

  • Guided Notes: The front page has two problems with directions for simplifying the quadratic formula. Along with space to work out the problem. The back has five problems to solve. The problems increase with the amount of information that needs to be filled in.
  • Practice: The front page has questions that ask to simplify at different stages of the quadratic formula. The back has 4 quadratic equations to solve with the quadratic formula.(16 problems)
  • Classwork: Front 1-12: Simplify at different stages of the quadratic formula. Students are able to self check with solutions at the bottom of the page. Back 1-10. Solve the quadratic equations using the quadratic formula. Students are able to self check with solutions at the bottom of the page.
  • Answer Keys: Answer keys are provided for each assignment.

Solve quadratic equations in one variable.
Solve quadratic equations by inspection (e.g., for 𝘹² = 49), taking square roots, completing the square, the quadratic formula and factoring, as appropriate to the initial form of the equation. Recognize when the quadratic formula gives complex solutions and write them as 𝘢 ± 𝘣𝘪 for real numbers 𝘢 and 𝘣.
