Description

Solve Equations: Two-step equations, Multi-step equations, equations with variables on both sides, even complicated equations. Use this Practice Guide to help students develop fluency with solving equations. All 20 equations have the same solution. Therefore, students either know they are right or begin to look critically at their work to identify computational flubs.

Why a Practice Guide?

They’re doing their homework, but did they do it correctly? They can do the examples with me in class, but can they do it on their own? Students are practicing, but there are more hands up right now than I can possibly get to in 15 minutes. Practice Guides help me solve the student to teacher ratio problem (A ton of them to one of me!).

Every one of Algebra Simplified's self-checking tools have been greatly welcomed by my students. They don't have to wait for a friend to check their answer, they can easily see if their work is right. Lots of smiles with these.

This resource is fantastic because my students are usually only interested in getting the answer and saying they are done, whether they have shown or done work or not. This forced them to go through the steps and show their work and the ones who wanted to work loved it because they were able to check themselves because they knew the answer. They also thought it was interesting to have that many questions with the same answer.
