Description

This note taking activity will walk your students through everything they need to know to solve multi-step equations. It starts off with a review of the distributive property and combining like terms, then takes them through solving equations with variables on one side, variables on both sides, multi-step equations, and special cases. This would work for an introduction lesson, as well as as a review lesson for your upper level kiddos. The answer key is included.

We used this as a review of all types before moving on to our next topic. I enjoyed it being a one for all worksheet.

Solve linear equations in one variable.
Give examples of linear equations in one variable with one solution, infinitely many solutions, or no solutions. Show which of these possibilities is the case by successively transforming the given equation into simpler forms, until an equivalent equation of the form 𝘹 = 𝘢, 𝘢 = 𝘢, or 𝘢 = 𝘣 results (where 𝘢 and 𝘣 are different numbers).
Solve linear equations with rational number coefficients, including equations whose solutions require expanding expressions using the distributive property and collecting like terms.
