We did this in my SK/1 class today. I took a picture of the worksheet and put it up on the SmartBoard and emptied my valentines bag, sorted, and we graphed my results together. Then, my students did it. They were so excited. The clipart was easy for them to understand and the categories were perfect for popular kids' valentines cards. Thank you!

Thanks so much for your feedback! Modeling for your students with your valentines was genius and made it a more accessible task for your K's. I am glad that your students loved the activity. Christina

This was a fabulous activity!! I will absolutely use this again next year. I was amazed at how settled and focused the kids were when completing their sorting and graph. SO much better than letting all that energy and excitement build until the end of the day like I've always done! Thank you!! ~Erin

I am so glad it worked well with your class. After the chaos of the card exchange it was nice to have the kids find a spot, take their sheet and then look at their valentines. It was so quiet while they were sorting and graphing!

I really like this. I'm looking forward to using it on Thursday (anything to slow my maniacs down a bit and actually notice something)!

Nice idea. I like your idea to have the students stop and think more about the cards and the gifter.
