Description

This activity is a winter themed introduction or practice activity for the sorting of objects by multiple attributes.

These pages can be implemented as cut and sort activity sheets. Teachers may also choose to precut and laminate manipulatives for center activities.

To differentiate, teachers may challenge students to indentify sorting categories on their own or assist students by assigning sorting rules (i.e. winter hat with pom-pom vs. winter hat without pom-pom). Sorting categories are included in the packet.

Children will sort objects in multiple ways. Activities vary in difficulty as students are given more possibilities for sorting categories in the snowman sort.

Included Sorts:

Winter Hats (pom-pom, fringe, snowflake)

Gingerbread men (button shape, mittens, boots)

Hot Chocolate Mugs (mug shape, handle shape, # of marshmallows)

Mittens (striped, string, cuff length)

Snowmen (hat, scarf, # of buttons, nose)
