Activity Information:
Are you looking for a sure-fire way to engage all four modalities in class today? Then this is for you! In this multi-step activity, students read a high school transcript from a fictional high school in Mexico. They analyze it with guidance from a chart comparing grading scales in different countries. Then, in the writing activity, they imagine they are this student and answer common college application questions related to their coursework, past and present.
What you'll love is that the whole class is engaged for up to a whole hour and all in the target language! It gives a great authentic context and engages comprehensible input. It's a print-and-go winner of a lesson plan! It includes the colorful class schedule, reading and writing pages for students, a PPT to guide the class, and instructions for the teacher. All pages are editable so you can add unit-specific vocabulary if needed. I’ve also included instructions for how to adapt this activity for distance learning on an online platform or video conferencing.
