Description
This informal speech and language screening and assessment is used to assess and track data for wh questions. Use this criterion-referenced assessment tool as a screener, informal assessment, or progress monitoring tool to answer questions and help you assess and track your student's progress in speech therapy or determine a treatment starting point. This tool will help you evaluate and track data on what, who, where, when, why, and how questions while using the included goals to help you write your speech services IEP.
What's included:
- Wh Question Screening
Based on the information gathered from the screening, choose which particular wh question deep assessment will need to be administered.
- Deep Wh Question Assessments
Ten questions are included for each of the following:
- what
- who
- where
- when
- why
- how
After the pre-test, use the included
- Data graph
to plot the student’s present levels of performance of wh questions.
Once your determined goal has been targeted in therapy, give the same wh question assessment as a post-test and plot the progress on the graph to show at your IEP meetings.
- IEP goal examples are included, ranging in difficulty for wh questions

When children are learning to process and answer WH questions, they usually follow a developmental and predictable sequence. “What” is the earliest question mastered, followed by “Who” and “Where.” Finally, an understanding of “When” and “Why” develop, with “Why” being the most difficult to master.
