Description

In this activity students use their knowledge of the transformations of square root functions to match each function with its graph. Students cut out all of the cards and then match each function card with its graph card. This card matching activity can be catered to the specific needs of your classroom! You could use as few as 20 cards (match 10 functions to their 10 graph cards) or all 40 cards (match 20 functions to their graphs). You can customize the answer key to your needs by highlighting only the cards/matches that students are supposed to complete for your class. This activity can be used in a variety of ways including as an in class pairs activity, interactive notebook page, or individual assessment of student understanding.

The 1st and 3rd pages of matching cards go together and consist of square root functions with a single transformation. The 2nd and 4th pages of matching cards consist of square root functions in which two transformations have occurred. You could make separate sets or use them as one big set of all 40 cards. The options are endless!

Included in this download:

- 40 cards (20 functions and 20 graph cards)

- Table for students to record their answers (2 tables per sheet)

- Answer Key (2 answer keys per sheet)

My students were very engaged while working the card match. It gave them a chance to see 20 similar graphs in a short amount of time. I did sub out some of the equations for descriptions (domain, range, max/min value, scale factor, etc.) Thank you for saving me tons of time!

This was amazing. It allowed my students to really think about the transformations of each graph. Be careful, the graphs print really light. I had to trace over them before copying.
