Description
These St. Patrick's Day Story Problems were a hit in my mathematics classroom. Each silly prompt will require students to think critically about the details provided and make decisions on what data is needed and what mathematically needs to be done to solve the problem.
These story problems are a great way to keep the fun in St. Patrick's Day but still promote critical thinking. All items are fully editable so you can include your own students' names!
This item is included in the Math Story Problems Bundle for Middle School. If you purchased the bundle, you will not need to purchase this item.
Here are some sample problems:
1. Dylan decided to dye his hair green for St. Patrick’s Day. His mother, however, hated the color and demanded that Dylan wash it out. After 36 showers, it was still not coming out. He visited 5 salons to try the get his hair back to his normal color. It cost him $5.30 in gas each time he visited the salon. How much money did he spend on gas?
2. Olivia is afraid of leprechauns and refuses to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Instead, she spent the day e-mailing her friends. If she spent 2 hours in the morning, 53 minutes in the afternoon, and 2 hours 10 minutes in the evening e-mailing her friends, how many total minutes did she spend on e-mail?
