Thomas Teachable Moments

I have been in education for 10 years. I taught 3rd grade for two years, 4th grade for one year, and 2nd grade for seven years! I have my ESL and G/T certifications. I have also earned my Master's Degree in Math Curriculum and Instruction. My goal is to become a Math Specialist, and eventually a Math Curriculum Coordinator in a school district.

My teaching style is reflected in my products here on TeachersPayTeachers. I prefer activities that are less traditional and get my students up and moving. Being in 2nd grade, I know that I have to do something fun to keep them engaged, but I also have to find a way to hold them accountable for their learning. I keep that in mind with each product I create. I also can fly by the seat of my pants sometimes and take my lessons in a completely different direction than I originally intended if I see a need for it. Therefore, I also like to create products that can be used in multiple ways. This also allows me to be able to use the same product more than once to teach and reinforce concepts and objectives. I graduated with honors from Texas Tech University. Phi Upsilon Omicron Honor Society President's List Spring 2007 - Spring 2009 Dean's List Fall 2006 President's List Fall 2015 - Fall 2017

I am an alumnus of Texas Tech University! Get your guns up, Red Raiders! I have a Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education I am certified Pre-K - 4th Grade in Texas I am also ESL certified in Texas I completed my Master's Degree at the University of Texas at Arlington. I earned my Master's Degree in Math Curriculum and Instruction in 2016.

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 15 years and we have the two cutest 8 year old twins in the world! We waited 7 LOOOOOONG years to get pregnant with them and we couldn't have asked for 2 better babies. If you are already a parent, you know how much your heart grows when you have kids. Being a wife and mommy are the two best jobs in the world. I do love being a teacher - but family comes first! I grew up in North Texas in a single parent household. My sister and I were first generation college students and both graduated with honors. My sister has also earned her Master's and is a high school counselor. She and I had wonderful teachers throughout our schooling, particularly in elementary, and that is the reason I wanted to get into education. I have known since 3rd grade that I wanted to be a teacher. My husband is an Athletic Trainer. Before that, he stayed home with the twins until they went to Kindergarten. I feel very lucky, but it was straining providing for a family of 4 on just a teacher salary! Thus, TeachersPayTeachers seemed like a good plan for us! I LOVE creating - people think I'm nuts, but it's my fun downtime activity - and thought I may as well share what I love with other wonderful educators.
