The purpose of school-based Occupational Therapy (OT) is to enable students to access their education and engage in occupations. OT strives to be holistic, incorporating a hands-on, kinesthetic approach. The Occupational Therapist (OTR) will evaluate various skills, including fine motor, executive function, self-regulation, visual perceptual, and others, to identify the source of the student's struggles. An OTR could also assess the environment at school (i.e., classroom, gym, playground) to recommend adaptations or sensory strategies that support the individual's needs.
