These teaching tips detail how I implement each of the Kitchen Conversion resources from the Unit Bundle. In my classroom, the Kitchen Conversions Unit takes 8 days to complete. Each day is structured so students are required to do minimal or no work outside of the school day. I encourage partner/group participation with all of the activities. These activities are structured so students can be pretty independent from me. There is little instruction/explanation needed that is not already included on the worksheets, but I do walk around constantly offering guidance and assistance as needed.

This Kitchen Conversions Unit Bundle showcases real-life math in the kitchen, focusing on conversions to help students sharpen their skills with fractions, proportions, and dimensional analysis, as well as develop logical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and mathematical modeling.
