Description

This file contains 2 sets of 24 Thanksgiving Math Task Cards. The content of each set is the same, they are available in color or black and white. These task cards can be used in a variety of ways. To prepare them, just cut and laminate the cards. Sometimes I like to punch a hole in my cards and put them on a ring so they stay in order. There is also a recording sheet and an answer key.

Topics Included:

• One step word problems

• Multi step word problems

• Standard units of measurement

• Fractions

• Elapsed time

Although I may not have taught all of these skills at this point in the year, I like to assign this full set of task cards to students to see if they can solve unfamiliar problems. It is amazing what students can sometimes figure out on their own, plus it gives us a lot to talk about.

Centers & Early Finishers

Ask students to record their answers on the provided page (or just have students number a blank page from 1-24). Students answer the question on each card on their paper. After a student has answered all the cards, they can check them with the answer key.

Scoot

To play Scoot, you place a card on each child’s desk. Each child should answer their card on the correct location on their recording sheet. Make sure students look at the number of their card to see where to begin on the recording sheet. Then when you give a signal all students move to the next desk and record the next answer. Check answers as a class at the end of the game.

Solve Around the Room

Post cards around the room and have students move around to find each card and solve. This is a great way to get students up and moving while working.

What Teachers are Saying:

• What a fun mix of practice for the month of November! Kids love these! - Emily G.

• Great for early finishers around Thanksgiving time! My students love a good "roam the room!" - Leah N.

• Great word problems for reviewing skills in November. - Stephanie B.
