We started w/ sedimentary rocks & I set up 3 trays and split my students into 3 groups of 1st-3rd grade (it’s a Montessori class) and we did the Sedimentary rock experiment and they read through the info sheets together as a group and then I read the pages of the slideshow which I printed off. I did have assist teachers to help so there was an adult w/ each group. We will do the experiment for the Igneous rocks tomorrow, then go through the slide show on paper. Each group will have to research igneous rocks and find 5 fast facts from resource material. My co-teacher will use the hot plate & help students make the igneous rocks per the directions from the crayon shavings.
