Description
The Two Day Baseball Math Project is exactly like it sounds. It was designed for an advanced middle school or early high school student (preferably a baseball fan) to complete in about two days and contains quite a bit of rigor for something that the student will think is a fun change of pace. It's not a project that requires any pre-planning or supplies. It's just a great project that is a bit all-encompassing as far as math skills are concerned. They will learn how some baseball statistics are calculated, distance traveled between multiple cities, minutes to hours conversions, decimals and percents, and filling in missing holes in a two-way table. All of the questions require some math to answer, but it is not a project that is confined to one specific topic or unit. It's the kind of project I would have loved in school. It's math, it's challenging, and it's sports. Win, win, win for me when I was a student.
