Description
This product doubles as full digital lessons for the Concept Development portion of No prep-work needed for 3 days of first grade math lessons with nearly 200 slides bundled at a big discounted rate! These lessons support CCSS Operations and Algebraic Thinking (particularly CCSS.1.OA.1, CCSS.1.OA.4, and CCSS.1.OA.5) as well as Standard Mathematical Practices (particularly MP3, MP4, and MP7). It is designed for early first grade (particularly Topic G Lessons 25-27 of Module 1 Eureka) but can also be used for second half of kindergarten or to supplement or enhance other curriculums as it focuses on the same standards. It can also serve as a great review for second grade.
This entire product line doubles as an interactive Google Slide digital lessons for the Concept Development portion Engage New York Eureka program to be displayed on your Smart Board or shared on your screen and also contains interactive Google slides for independent or small group practice after the whole group lessons to be assigned or shared virtually to put the lesson into practice.
In Topic G, the Math Detectives are out in nature investigating campers and all of the math they come across in their camping adventure! Students learn to further understand the relationship between addition and subtraction facts that are in the same fact family. In Lesson 25, students solve add to with change unknown problems as they have in Topic C using addition, but also how it relates to subtraction. Using concrete materials and visuals in lesson 25 gives perfect segue to the number path that they will use in lessons 26 and 27 as an additional math tool to add to their math toolbox. They will also continue to practice and relate the number path to their previous strategies such as using a number bond, counting with fingers, and using 5 group dot cards. The Math Detectives pose many questions that involve students in discussion as they reason their way through solving the math mysteries.
Slides are designed to appear as though you are looking through binoculars, using a camera, looking through a magnifying glass, using a flashlight, and taking notes in a notepad like a real detective hunting for number clues! The scenes in this product presents a storyline similar to word problems and promotes problem-solving skills and is designed to promote student discourse and discussion to learn to explain their mathematical thinking.
Use these lessons as whole group shared on your Interactive whiteboard, shared on your screen on Google Meet or Zoom for distant learning, or as a small group lesson in present mode. Each slide is annotated with dialogue in speech bubbles to guide your lesson, but feel free to make it your own! Each slide is designed to serve as a foundation for which math discourse in the classroom can build and grow.
After the lessons are the independent slides for students. You can assign these slides in Google Classroom or on Seesaw (or any other program that supports Google slide products). Simply hold "ctrl" to select the slides you want to assign, go to file and make a copy. From there you can assign as you normally would on your preferred digital platform. These slides are interactive when in edit mode only! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask here or you can email me (see my TOU below for contact information).
