Description
Teach year 5 and 6 students to describe and identify various transformation of two-dimensional shapes. With this resource students develop confidence in using terms such as ‘translate, reflect and rotate’ to describe the movement of 2D shapes. Extension activities included to teach students to create their own transformations including images at the original position, quarter turn, half-turn, three quarter turn and full turn. Examples for book layout is included too. Learning intention and success criteria is included.
Students will learn how to:
o Describe various transformation of two-dimensional shapes using terms such as ‘translate, reflect and rotate’
o Create their own transformations and describe these as either original position, quarter turn (90 degrees), half turn (180 degrees), three quarter turns (270 degrees) and full turn (360 degrees).
