Description

This PowerPoint, if you purchase it, will be more of a template for your own transition lab. In this PowerPoint, I have the students practice transitioning from one task to another. We make hypotheses, record the materials, write the steps, identify the variables, write the data and make a conclusion. This is a GREAT activity to do at the beginning of the year because while the students are learning about variables and the scientific method, they're also practicing common transitions we'll be doing in the classroom throughout the year. For example, one "lab" asks them to complete their daily geography bell work (I teach social studies as well), put the atlases back on the shelf and then return to their seat. Therefore, I recommend doing this lab at the beginning of the year and have students focus on day to day transitions that occur in your classroom.
