Description
Two-digit addition and subtraction can be fun! This pack includes a variety of activities that can be used to review two-digit addition and subtraction, with and without regrouping. The activities offer a more interesting alternative to a skill and drill worksheet and can serve as a supplement to your regular math curriculum.
As with any teaching resource, this pack can be used at the teacher's discretion. You can use the unit to provide engaging practice with the standard algorithm (relate the strategy to a written method) or as you introduce the concept of regrouping (composing and decomposing) using models. I usually have my students use a set of models and a place value mat next to their assignment. They use the models to complete each step of the problem and transfer that information to their activity page. As with any teaching resource, feel free to modify the activities to meet the needs of your students.

- Pick a Card- Addition (students pick two cards and add them together; partners compare sums)
- Pick a Card-Subtraction (students pick two cards and subtract; partners compare differences)
- Solve, Cut, Glue Flap Book-Addition (students solve a set of addition problems, cut them out, and glue them beneath the correct flap)
- Solve, Cut, Glue Flap Book-Subtraction (students solve a set of subtraction problems, cut them out, and glue them beneath the correct flap)
- Sort it Out Pocket Book- Addition and Subtraction mixed (students solve a variety of two-digit addition and subtraction problems, then sort them into the categories regrouping or no regrouping)
- Word Problem I Spy-Addition and Subtraction Mixed (students go around the room to solve a set of word problems; color and black/white versions are included, a recording sheet and answer key are also included)
- Scoot On!- Addition and Subtraction Mixed (students scoot from desk to desk on your cue and solve the addition/subtraction problem posted at each desk; color and black/white versions are included, a recording sheet and answer key are also included)
