Using Models to Explain The Pythagorean Theorem (Proof).
Share

Description

Are your students struggling to understand/explain The Pythagorean Theorem? Do they remember the formula but don’t get the theorem? Use this Using Models to Explain The Pythagorean Theorem worksheet, where students will analyze models of right triangles formed by square tiles, answer guided questions about the areas and sums of the squares, and use the information to explain how each of the diagrams represents the Pythagorean theorem. A fourth diagram is given, which is made with grid paper and is a bit more challenging for students to explain but will definitely help them understand the Pythagorean theorem and not just remember the formula. It will help them understand and explain the theorem through guided questions and square tiles diagrams as reference. Don't let your students take State Assessments without going over this helpful resource first!

Hits Common Core Standards 8.G.B.6 and 8.G.B.7, TEKS 8.6C and 8.7C.

✔ Excellent for class or homework!

✔ Just print and go!

✔ Answer key included!
