Description
Get students excited for Valentine's Day while reviewing math standards that students need to master for third. This Valentine's Day party math task has students help their teacher prepare for their class Valentine's Day party. Within this math task students will build upon each problem and use their skills in: addition, subtraction, multiplying, dividing, solving multi-step word problems, the break apart and distributive property of multiplication, multiples of 10, line plots, area and perimeter, drawing arrays, as well as practicing rounding and estimation. Although this task uses mostly third grade standards, it also will be useful for fourth and fifth grade students in order to prepare them for the end of the year state wide tests. It may also be used for second grade students as a way to challenge them in a fun and engaging way.
