Description

Sweeten up your first grade math centers with these Valentine themed task cards! Practice solving basic addition and subtraction story problems to 20, with unknowns in all positions.

Students love task cards! They think they are doing something so much more FUN if it involves standing up or moving around. This product is designed for first and second graders who are just starting to solve word problems. It uses basic facts with answers within 20 so students can think about what the question is asking them to do in order to solve it. I have included basic addition (result unknown), basic subtraction, 3 addend and missing addend word problems. While these problems all have sums below 20, if they are laminated you can easily use an EXPO marker to change from one-digit to two-digit problems. Differentiation couldn't be easier! This packet includes problem types listed in the Common Core for common addition and subtraction situations and are similar to Cognitively Guided Instruction.

These problems are themed around things that happen in February or around Valentine's Day - candy hearts, flowers, Cupid, Valentines, class parties, balloons, cards and more!.

This product includes:
-12 basic addition/subtraction word problem task cards (4 to a page)
- 2 different recording sheets to write answers
**** Everything is available in both color OR black & white****
Answer key is also included for your convenience!

Opportunities are endless for these task cards! Perfect to put around the room as a read/write the room activity and have your students walk around to solve problems. Your students can also play Scoot using these cards. You can use them in math centers, as can do activities, independent work, use for early finishers or as remediation for reteaching. This is the perfect way to integrate some holiday fun into your Math Time!

These task cards are aligned with common core standards and would be a great addition to February or Valentine's Day math lesson plans. These cute no-prep printables are perfect to give your students extra practice solving word problems!
