Description

Topic of this video: Rational Equations

Unit: Algebraic Manipulation

Course: Algebra 2

Video Duration: 23 minutes, 43 seconds

This video:

  • Introduces Rational Equations
  • Goes over 5 total examples of different Rational Equations, increasing in difficulty
  • Shows how you can solve the first example using common denominators or by multiplying all terms by the LCM
  • Solves all other examples use the technique of multiplying by the LCM of the denominators to clear the denominators
  • Shows and explains the importance of checking.  One example has an extraneous solution which is eliminated

Hello!  I created this video for students to learn this topic independently.  This video is a tool you can use to teach, preview, reteach, or just have as an additional resource.   The video uses student-friendly language and explains topics as simply as possible.  If you’re teaching remotely, this video is invaluable.

The video consists of my hand-written pdf file of my notes,  and as I explain each concept and example, I point an arrow to the work I’m explaining.   In the videos, I do not show my face, nor mention any names, nor show any photos, just the math is shown and my voice is heard.  Thus, this video can be used in any classroom.  All videos are in English.  When you purchase this, you will receive a zip file which includes the video and the pdf of the notes which are explained.   What you see as thumbnails for this product is the pdf file.

I usually assign a video as homework and ask students to write down everything for their own notes.  I then check their notes as evidence that they completed the assignment- but of course, you’re welcome to use this resource in any way you want.  During in-person schooling, I have a flipped classroom and my videos are crucial to its success.  In remote learning, I use the videos for every topic I introduce, and students find them extremely helpful.

I hope my videos can help you out too!
