Description

** Updated for typos and now includes a Study Guide to help both your students and you in preparing for your test on Vietnam **

This resource is perfect if you're not sure where to being your unit on the Vietnam War or maybe you're looking to ramp up your current materials. Begin with a tried and true introductory activity that will get students speculating, making inferences, drawing conclusions and sharing their thoughts. Then move into some content with a fully editable, visually engaging PowerPoint of the entire time period. Students can follow along with Guided Reading-style note sheets that are perfect for traditional in-person learning, "flipped classroom" type settings, or even distance learning.

A second series of PowerPoints with "fill in the blank" style notes is included for accommodated learners or lower level readers. Finally, round out your discussion with a robust sources-style activity where students uncover information about the Rise of Nixon, Kent State, My Lai, The drawdown, Ping-Pong diplomacy and more.

This resource will make the perfect content framework for your study of Vietnam. Infuse with your own style, activities, videos, etc. All PowerPoints are fully editable.

Topics Covered:

The French involvement in Indochina / the Domino Theory / Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon's involvement / The Draft / The Living Room War / Hawks and Doves / The Vietcong / Protests at Home / the Tet Offensive / the Election of 1968 and Democratic National Convention / Robert Kennedy and MLK Assassinations / Rise of Nixon / My Lai / Kent State / Ping Pong diplomacy and much more.

I ended up using everything that was available in this unit pack, and it required almost no prep! The only issues was that there were MANY typos and spelling errors amongst everything. Unfortunately, the guided notes pages were only available in PDF format, so I couldn't fix them without a lot of effort on my part. Overall a good unit pack!

Hi there, Thank you for purchasing and leaving feedback on the Vietnam Unit. I'm glad you were able to use it in a way that was helpful. I did go back through and found a couple of typos that I edited out (I found a couple in the "Source Activity"). I went through each handout to double check and they should be mostly mistake free now - you can download a new updated unit if you'd like. I also updated the resource with a study guide. Hope that helps! Thanks again!
