Description

Students are asked to follow along in a student-paced Google Slides, giving the students an interactive way to analyze element properties to sort unknown elements into groups

I pair every lab that we do in class with a "virtual lab" that cover the same information that we cover with the lab in person. It is not always possible to schedule time for students to come in before or after school to make up labs and this solves that problem! If you are looking for the in person version to be completed in class, please purchase Periodic Table Lab.

I could not find the answer key but it states this was provided; also no student exemplar included. This took my High School students about 10 minutes to complete and was not very higher order thinking. :( Also, unknown #3 does not fit into any of the unknown spaces with the density that is given. VERY DISAPPOINTED

Use the periodic table as a model to predict the relative properties of elements based on the patterns of electrons in the outermost energy level of atoms. Examples of properties that could be predicted from patterns could include reactivity of metals, types of bonds formed, numbers of bonds formed, and reactions with oxygen. Assessment is limited to main group elements. Assessment does not include quantitative understanding of ionization energy beyond relative trends.
