In this unit the students will create pieces of art, which relate to the theme of Living Things. This unit will allow students to experiment in representing nature through various forms of artistic techniques. Students will have the opportunity to look closely at creatures in a microenvironment including a ladybird, spiders in their homes and creating a 3D wire sculpture of an insect that will based on previous sketches. The students will then complete a variety of artworks focusing on Australian native plants and flowers and discuss the famous artist Vincent Van Gough to assist in using pencils to sketch trees by the water.
