Teachers can create a great independent work packet from this resource by giving students the activity and answer key for self checking.

In this practice activity, students will identify synonyms for ten high level vocabulary words and then color them using crayons, markers, or colored pencils. Synonyms are all colored the same color. This package includes a written key for you with all words, synonyms, and the correct color to use for the synonym groups, as well as a color key so students may check their own work.

This activity may be used in two ways. For an easier activity, you can give students the main words and ask them to identify and color correctly all synonyms for the main words. For a more challenging lesson, don’t provide the main words; tell your students that there are ten synonym collections on the sheet and that each collection should be colored a different color.

The color key provided is designed for the easier version of this practice sheet.
