Description

In this activity, students will solve math problems to fill in the blanks on a passage about the monuments and memorials that can be found in Washington, D.C. Correct answers will earn the students a "selfie" to collect from that site as they help fictional students learn about the sites they are visiting.

Sites from DC include:

Washington Monument

Lincoln Memorial

Jefferson Memorial

Vietnam Memorial

US Capitol

What a fun way for students to learn about our country AND practice their math skills at the same time! (And collect selfies, because we know that students love selfies!!!)

This combines reading, math, and history! It is great to pair with letting your student VIRTUALLY look up the Washington D.C. memorials!

We take our 5th and 6th grade students to Washington, DC each year. This was such a fun way to prepare for the sites we were about to go see. I will definitely be using this again next year!
