Description

This sheet allows students to draw connections from math class using the sine function to model sound waves and the interference of sound waves. I have seen a lot of students drawing good connections to their Algebra II content, and have the math make a little more sense after this activity. I have used it in physics classes, but would also be great in a math class drawing real world connections to physics! It emphasizes the use of a graphing utility. At the end, there is a writing prompt that asks kids to think about a real world use for the wave interference.

This is something I haven't thought about when teaching Waves. I'm very excited to test it out this Spring!
