Web For Business - Bundle 2 - HTML

Part of the Web For Business Course - Students learn programming skills while developing their own resumé website.

This bundle includes learning/assessment activities teaching the essential HTML code common to all web pages.

This bundle includes:

  • Five interactive tutorials
  • Quiz banks (95 questions)
  • PowerPoint demonstration for your classroom
  • Specifications for Project: HTML
  • Class support documents (syllabus, assignment map, course requirements.

The bundle covers one week of student activities.

Learning Objectives for this bundle:

  • Create a web page using the essential HTML commands common to every web page.
  • Display the web page using a browser without being connected to the Internet.
  • Incorporate effective commenting on a web page.
  • Create a useful skeleton (template) to speed web page development.
  • Establish a workflow for developing and viewing a web page.
  • Use at least four semantic elements introduced with HTML 5.

Tutorial: HTML Essentials - Students learn the basic HTML elements by building and displaying their own web page.

Tutorial: Validating HTML - Making sure your code is valid is an important skill. This tutorial shows the student how to accomplish that and gives them sample code with validation errors that they need to fix.

Tutorial: Semantic Elements - HTML5 introduced several semantic elements that give more context to the objects on a page. This tutorial highlights some of the more common elements and shows how to use them.

Tutorial: Meta Tags — Students learn how meta tags can be used to communicate information about the page to the browser. All the common meta tags are covered. The tutorial includes a self-quiz at the end.

Tutorial: Create an Advanced HTML Template - This tutorial uses the skills from the other tutorials by having the student incorporate them in a reusable template that they can use every time they want to create a new web page. This template file is used throughout the rest of the course.

PowerPoint Demonstration for your class highlighting a bit of history and a hands-on lab using the semantic elements. Source code is included. (12 pages).

95 quiz questions covering HTML. Includes an answer key. Questions are in the Moodle GIFT text format making it easy to import into your LMS.

Project Specifications for Project: HTML. Includes the learning objectives from the syllabus and specific criteria for your students. You can edit the document using Microsoft Word or use a text editor.

    - Assignment Map - An Excel spreadsheet for students
