Description
Students will create two separate drawings. The first drawing will be what the students think a mathematician looks like and they will describe their drawing in a few sentences. The second drawing will be what the students think they look like while they are doing mathematics and describe their drawings using a few sentences. Once drawings are complete, students will present their drawings and compare and contrast the differences between the drawing of them doing math vs. their perspective on a mathematician doing math. This is an engaging first week math activity that any math teacher can do to get to learn about how their students feel about math going into the school year.
