This activity focuses on three math skills: sorting by color, counting/one to one correspondence, and matching an amount to a number card. These skills then help build the concept of addition for students.

In this activity, students will sort snowflakes by color-blue or purple. They will count the blue snowflakes and find the number that matches and count the purple snowflakes and find the number that matches. Then they will count all the snowflakes and find the matching number to compete an addition equation. Older students can copy the equation onto a record sheet.
