Description

This set of 8th grade math (pre-algebra) binder notes provides guided notes for writing equations in slope-intercept form. Students will label the components of slope-intercept form (m and b) and make connections between a verbal situation, graph, table and its equation. For practice, students will write a linear equation in slope-intercept form given a verbal description, real-world graph, skills-based graph, or a table of values.

This lesson is included in the following bundles:

Graph proportional relationships, interpreting the unit rate as the slope of the graph. Compare two different proportional relationships represented in different ways. For example, compare a distance-time graph to a distance-time equation to determine which of two moving objects has greater speed.
Use similar triangles to explain why the slope m is the same between any two distinct points on a non-vertical line in the coordinate plane; derive the equation š˜ŗ = š˜®š˜¹ for a line through the origin and the equation š˜ŗ = š˜®š˜¹ + š˜£ for a line intercepting the vertical axis at š˜£.
