Kinder and First graders can work in small groups or independently to read and respond. The passages are phonetically appropriate for K/1. There are two options for each passage: 1) write the words you can read or 2) write the words you can read AND a comprehension question.

This planner works well with reading groups. I use one per week and am able to organize all my groups in one place.

Students draw/write four parts of their fall break they want to share. It could be 4 foods, 4 people, 4 shows....

Students roll a dice to create a three digit number. (Modify the number of digits for any academic level.) Then they model their understanding of expanded form and hundreds/tens/ones my drawing the number in counting cubes. Super cute for hallway/classroom decor in the fall. My students loved this.
