This freebie includes 4 core communication boards: 1) English core board 2) Spanish core board 3) Bilingual Spanish-English core board 4) Bilingual Spanish-English high contrast core board Note that the 36 core words included in the boards have been heavily researched and found to be the most common and frequently used words in English. However, there is currently no research pertaining to core words in Spanish. I translated all the English words into Spanish. So far I have had great success

These are smaller core boards that target a variety of communicative functions. The benefit of teaching core words is that with a small vocabulary, the patient can communicate many more purposeful utterances (vs. increasing vocabulary by just teaching nouns). The reason for 6-symbol core boards is so that you focus on specific language at a time. It helps prevent frustration as the patient is less likely to feel overwhelmed if he/she were introduced a lot of vocabulary on the communication board
