About the store
I have been teaching since 1996. When I first started teaching, I taught 6th grade and all subjects. After 13 years in 6th, I moved to 7th and taught Math and American History. That was for 6 years. For the past 10 years I have taught 6th grade math. In year 30, I am the Math Problem Solving/STEM teacher for grades K-8. I get to work with all students doing creative activities and projects. I have always wanted to be a teacher. When I was little, I used to play "school" all the time. I would make up tests and write on the little chalkboard my parents bought me. I used to get excited when my teachers gave away their old teacher editions. They would become my books when I played "school".

Decimal Project- Design Your Own Menu and Restaurant Project

I used this project with my 6th grade math classes as a review and practice of decimal operations and enrichment of percent applications (Sales Tax and Tip and taught in 7th grade), but the concept of how to find it is taught in 6th (finding the percentage/part). My students loved it! I had them work with a partner, but this could absolutely be done independently. They loved that they were able to create their own themed restaurant and a menu for it. The students then used their menus for the ta

About this Product “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!”…. Is it??? As a teacher this statement is debatable. Of course, we all love the holiday season, when we are trying not to get in those last few things in before winter break. We sure know the students love this time of year! They get so excited and boy do they let it show!! Sometimes we just need to give them (and us) a little break from the everyday learning for something fun. This product is designed to do that. When Am I Ever Going to Need This? Math Career Poster Project

I like to give this project out in the beginning of the year because it allows the students to see the reason why Math is so important to us. The students have to choose an adult they know and interview them. In the interview they will discover why Math is important in that career, what Math is being used, and an example of a math problem someone in that career might face. They will then create a poster, using the instructions on the guideline provided. The students like doing this project I e

Teaching style

I believe that you are born to be a teacher. It is not a job that anyone or everyone can do, despite what people think. It takes a certain person to give a large portion of their time to helping other people's children and shape them into able-bodied young adults. You have to be patient, understanding, kind, yet firm, and creative. You have to be willing to try new things because all children do not learn the same and every class you teach is not the same as the previous one. So teachers need to be able to adapt and most importantly, think on their feet. I find sometimes my best lessons or activities are those that I thought up instantaneously.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Nominated and featured as a top educator in technology in my district.

My own education history

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Instructional Technology.

Additional biographical information

I love teaching and sharing my ideas! I want to share some of my best ones with you! My belief is that we as teachers need to work together and change the way some people perceive education.
